Meet Lilly: Style Coach, Confidence Builder, Your New Hype-Lady
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved clothes.
New clothes, old clothes, fun clothes, comfy clothes. Whatever—I’ve always been in love with finding outfits that make me feel like me, and when I find the right one? I feel unstoppable.
The first love of my life was a jean skirt—featuring a big round silver buckle and flared pleats—that I proudly paired with a black velvet blouse that would be very on-trend today. This was my go-to look in the second grade. That outfit made me feel older, bolder, and like a fierce 20-something off to set the world on fire (at the wise age of eight).
I didn’t know it then, but I was wearing the early version of a personal power outfit.
My mom was always bringing home bags of hand-me-downs from friends and coworkers, so I was sporting the vintage thrifted look long before it was cool. And even though I didn’t own a single brand name or shop in the trendiest stores, my love for clothes was never about price tags. It was about how they made me feel.
Fast forward a couple decades (and several closet overhauls), and not much has changed.
Now, as a style coach and strategist, I help women build confidence from the closet out—especially those who are juggling career moves, inner critics, imposter syndrome, and a whole lot of “what am I even doing?” energy.
So, if you’re wondering what my personal style rules are? I’ve got a few. Ten, to be exact.
Here are the 10 style tips I swear by—and live by every single day.
10 Style Tips I Live By (and You Might Love Too)
Over the years, my relationship with style has evolved—but these ten reminders have stayed close. They're part practical, part mindset, and fully rooted in helping you feel like you in whatever you wear.
Fit First, Always.
You could be wearing the trendiest outfit on TikTok, but if it doesn’t fit right, it won’t feel right. Find pieces that hug (or drape) your body in ways that make you stand a little taller. If something tugs, twists, or constantly needs adjusting, it’s a no from me. Comfort is confidence. Trust me, I love a good influencer look as much as the next, but barrel pants? Come ON! they’re SO unflattering if you don’t look like—well an influencer.
Getting Dressed is a Power Move.
Whether you're heading into a client meeting or just logging into Zoom with your cat on your lap, putting yourself together—even a little—sends a signal: I'm showing up. That said, listen, I’ve had days where my favorite snuggly blanket doubled as pants for the day (okay, okay, if you know me you know I have a lot of weekends like this). And that’s totally okay, too. Rest is productive, and style should serve you, not stress you.
Have a Go-To Uniform.
Think of it as your personal power outfit—a combo that feels good every time, no overthinking required. For me, that’s a pair of stretch waistband trousers (bless), a fitted tee or long sleeve, and cute sneakers. Easy, comfy, still cute. On other days, I’m reaching for mom jeans, an elevated top, and my go-to fun sandals. Whatever combo gives you that "I'm put together but still me" energy? That’s the vibe.
Play With Color (Even in Small Doses).
Neutrals are great, but adding a pop of rust, blush, sage, or mustard can transform a whole look. A colorful pair of shoes, a bright bag, or a bold lip can do the trick without feeling like a full style commitment.
One Statement Piece is Enough.
A velvet blazer. Oversized earrings. That belt with a buckle the size of Texas. Keep the rest simple and let that one piece be the conversation starter. Too many statements = no statement.
Dress Like You Already Have the Job.
Not the stuffy corporate advice kind—but the energy you want to bring into the room. Want to feel more in control? Dress like it. Want to feel creative? Add something a little bold, a little funkty. Don’t be scared to stand out from your coworkers, black tops and slacks get boring and we ALL know it. Your clothes are part of your vibe-setting toolkit.
Stop Saving Outfits for "Someday."
I used to keep clothes in my closet for imaginary occasions. Now? I wear the good blouse to the grocery store if I’m feeling it. Life’s too short to wait to feel amazing.
When I catch myself thinking, “I’ll save that outfit for the big meeting next week,” or “I want to wear this to that event instead,” I pause and ask—what the hell am I waiting for? Who am I doing this for, them or me?
Because honestly, what are you waiting for? And who’s keeping track of what you wore when? No one but you. So put it on. Enjoy your clothes. Feel like the main character—because you are!
Layer With Intention.
Don’t bury your outfit under a shapeless cardigan unless that’s the look. Use layers to highlight your shape, play with proportions, or just add a little cozy dimension. Cropped jackets give structure. Longline blazers elongate. Experiment!
Know Your Silhouettes.
I’m not here to tell you what “flatters” your body, because I believe your body is already worthy of being seen. But I do believe in learning what shapes you love on you. That’s what helps you feel empowered, not overwhelmed.
Style is Personal Power.
The goal isn’t to look like someone else—it’s to become the most aligned version of yourself. Style is how we say who we are before we speak. So say something good.
Be fearless, Be cute, Just like this pup.
Why I Do This
While juggling working on my doctorate, growing my career, and trying to feel good in my own skin—I realized how often women like us put ourselves last.
We give our energy to everyone else.
We downplay our voice in rooms we’ve earned the right to be in.
And we forget that what we wear, say, and believe about ourselves? It all matters.
That’s why I started A Lil Bit of Biz. Not to tell you what to wear—but to help you build a life and a style that reflects who you really are.
This brand isn’t about making you someone new.
It’s about reminding you that you already are her.
And if you ever forget that? Don’t worry—I’ll be right here to help you find your way back.

FAQs About Working with a Style Coach
What does a style coach do?
A style coach helps you develop a personal style that reflects your goals, personality, and lifestyle. It’s not just about clothes—it’s about confidence, clarity, and how you show up in the world. Think of it as part stylist, part mentor, part mindset guide.
Do I need to be “into fashion” to work with a style coach?
Nope! You don’t need to be a fashion expert. In fact, many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed or unsure about their style. We start wherever you are and build from there—with real clothes, real life, and zero judgment.
How is a style coach different from a personal stylist?
A personal stylist may help you shop or dress for an event. A style coach helps you dig deeper—connecting your wardrobe to your identity, your confidence, and the energy you want to bring into every room. It’s about transformation, not just trends.
Is working with a style coach expensive?
Not here. My goal is to make style coaching accessible and practical. You don’t need a designer wardrobe—you need the right pieces, a clear direction, and someone to help you make the most of what you already have. That’s where I come in.
Can a style coach help me even if I work from home?
Absolutely. Your environment doesn’t define your style—you do. Whether you're showing up on Zoom or walking into a boardroom, I’ll help you create a wardrobe that supports your presence, energy, and personal brand.
